Poway California is located about 30 minutes north of San Diego just south of Escondido and east of Interstate 15. This suburb of San Diego is actually its own city, founded and incorporated in 1980. However, it lies in the middle of San Diego County and is considered part of the San Diego area. It's home to about 48,000 residents.
Poway is considered by some as an old western style cowboy town as it originally got its start in agriculture and cattle. Today, Poway is full of residential neighborhoods, great schools, multiple transportation routes and trendy restaurants. Poway Has multiple parks including the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, Lake Poway, Old Poway Park and the Poway Community Park. All of which feature hiking and biking trails, nature preserves and several feature sports courts, athletic fields and playgrounds. In addition to these parks, Poway has a Swim Center with a variety of aquatic activities, classes for children to seniors, a variety of fishing on Lake Poway, gymnastics and over 55 miles of fantastic trail systems throughout San Diego County.
Poway Governs its own Poway Unified School District with multiple elementary schools, kindergarten through eighth grade elementary and middle school combinations, middle schools, high schools and adult education.
Poway is primarily residential with single-family homes but there are the occasional condominium and townhome communities. The median sales price for a home is around $610,000 with most homes being between $450,000 and $1.3 million. The average list price is $1.1 million. Poway is considered one of the safer communities throughout San Diego County.
