Otay Ranch is located east of downtown San Diego and Chula Vista and covers several different areas throughout the San Diego national wildlife refuge. The residential part of Otay Ranch is nestled along Highway 125 but there's other smaller borders close to Jamul and the Otay County open space preserve as well that may not have as many residential properties but larger branches and grassland.
Otay Ranch is still being built out but can easily be accessed along Highway 125 just east of Chula Vista. It's about 25 minutes to downtown San Diego if there is no traffic. These homes and townhouses were built only in the last 10 to 20 years and feature townhome communities, gated properties and a variety of schools and parks. Many homes have use of the lower Otay Lake.
Located within this community is Otay Ranch high school, the Olympian high school, the Camerena elementary school, the Mater Dei Catholic high school the Chula Vista veteran school and the High-tech HighChula Vista. In the center is the Otay Ranch town center with a variety of shops, chain restaurants, markets and more. Most of the residential area surrounds of this main town center.
Townhouses in Otay Ranch start at about $350,000 and most have homeowners dues ranging anywhere from $200 per month to $500 per month depending on the condo amenities.
