Located north of Los Angeles is what we call "the Valley". This sleepy suburb is getting a serious makeover from Chatsworth to North Hollywood. There are several projects in the work including designs to make neighborhoods more city like including more dense modern commerce options, more walkable neighborhoods, and more transit friendly stops. Over the next few years developers are set to build thousands of new units of housing, open spaces, retail shops and offices. Here are some of the biggest projects.
#1. "24" the new Bratz dolls headquarters. This new office complex is located between Chatsworth and Northridge and it will hold 660 apartments and ground-floor retail space as well as offices and the new headquarters for MGA entertainment.
#2. Westfield makeover of Warner Center. Located just north of the 101 is a major overhaul of the old Promenade Mall site. It will feature 1400 housing units and two hotels as well as a 34 acre site with pathways, public areas and parks.
#3. NoHo West. This new development along Highway 170 just south of Sun Valley will feature 642 apartment and as many as 60 dining and shopping options, fitness centers, grocery stores and movie theaters.
#4. Izek Shomoff's Panorama Towers. Located just north of the Van Nuys neighborhood is a new development to repurpose a 13 story mid century office building to incorporate housing and retail shops.
#5. Burbank Town Center. Where once the IKEA was located, it is now moved about a mile away and developers Crown Realty and Development have big plans for the location. This includes a 765 multi family unit building with additional 70 units for sale located at N. San Fernando Blvd.
#6. North Hollywood Metro station development. Located just west of Burbank is the repurpose thing and redevelopment of the subways a red line and bus rapid transit Orange line. This could include additional housing, retail and office space.
#7. The Icon at Panorama City. Icon Company plans to develop seven new buildings holding 423 units of multifamily housing plus 200,000 ft.² of commercial floor area. There will also be a six level parking garage with spaces for up to 1700 cars.
#8. Weddington Golf and Tennis. Located just outside of Studio City, plans for construction of 200 apartments in a 41 foot tall structure are underway. There will be new walking paths, accent points to bordering LA River and addition of the wetlands Park.
#9. 6606 Varial Ave. Located just north of the 101 will be a new urbanized LA show, a 271 unit apartment building with a pool, rooftop deck and two levels of parking.
