Pioneer Square began as the original site of Downtown Seattle. After the big Seattle fire many buildings were rebuilt using brick and give the neighborhood its current historic feel. Today Pioneer Square is a center for shopping during the day and much of Seattle’s nightlife.
Pioneer Square is located south of Seattle’s retail core, between Chinatown/International District and the Waterfront. Here there is plenty to do both day and into the night. Some of Seattle’s best restaurant can be found in Pioneer Square intermixed with unique boutique shops and many art galleries and some history museums. Many tourists come here to take the famous Seattle underground tour and experience some of the original structures of downtown Seattle.
As of lately Pioneer Square is undergoing a sort of renaissance with many new businesses and residential development entering the neighborhood. Weyerhaeuser is moving its headquarters to the neighborhood as are many tech companies and others. New restaurants are popping up. Many new condo and apartment buildings are being erected.
This is a great neighborhood to settle into if you are looking for one with character and a story that is unique. Homes for sale in Pioneer Square are mainly condominium and loft spaces. You can find a home in the price range of $200,000 to $400,000.
