Pacific Beach is located north of downtown San Diego south of La Jolla and north of Mission Bay. It is a small residential neighborhood bordered by Mission Bay on the south, La Jolla to the north, Interstate 5 in the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. It is home to young people, surfers, college students and even retirees. It is become an older more professional area known as P B by local residents. It is home to one of San Diego's vibrant nightlife scenes with a variety of clubs, bars and trendy clothing shops. It stretches for miles from the Mission Bay jetty to the cliffs of La Jolla and features a boardwalk, known as the oceanfront walk or Ocean Boulevard and is a great location if you're looking for an oceanfront property. This pedestrian walkway runs 3.2 miles along the beach with the local shops, restaurants and bars along the boardwalk. Most of the streets in Pacific Beach were renamed numerous times until they settled on being named after precious stones such as Sapphire, Diamond and Emerald just to name a few.
Today's Pacific Beach scene includes a variety of families, single professionals any younger college students. Pacific Beach is part of the San Diego unified school District and includes the Mission Bay Senior high school, the Pacific Beach middle school and several elementary schools.
Pacific Beach is also home to several parks including Kate Sessions Park and the recreational center as well as Rose Creek, which flows through Pacific Beach emptying into Mission Bay. This is one of the more popular places in the San Diego Metro area and condominiums range from $400,000 to over $1 million depending on size, condition and location.
